Domestic cups recap: Barcelona bags Copa del rey title, Dortmund and Arsenal also wins domestic cups

Copa del rey (Barcelona 3-1 Alaves)

Barcelona made sure they did not end this season trophyless as they defeated Alaves 3-1 last night to claim the copa del rey for the third year running.

Alaves started the match on high note with Gomez creating a fine oppourtuinity but the wood work came to barca’s rescue.
Barca soon went in front when star man Lionel Messi scored a superb curler from 20-yards out. Alaves  equalised through a Theo Hernadez freekick but the night was not theirs as two goals from Neymar and Alcacer was enough to give Luiz Enrique a winning send off.

German DFB cup (Dortmund 2-1 Frankfurt)

Dortmund finished off a dissapointing season with a 2-1 win over Frankfurt last night to claim the German cup after three successive final defeat.

Dortmund who finished third in the league and were eliminated in the quarter final stage champions league were hoping to shrud off the past and move ahead.

Starlet Ousman dembele gave dortmund the lead in the 8th min with a strong finish into roof of the net, the lead did not last long  through the first half  as frankfurt equalised through Ante Rabic. Dortmund poacher Aubameyang scored his 40th goal of the season as he converted from the spot to grant dortmund the trophy.

FA Cup (Arsenal 2-1 Chelsea)


Arsenal capped off a season that saw them finish out of the top four for the first time in 23-years with a 2-1 win over league champions chelsea in the FA cup final.

Alexis Sanchez controversially opened the scoring early in the first half with a calm finish past courtois. Arsenal were mounting the pressure on the blue side and the second half victor moses was sent off after he picked up a second yellow for diving.
Diego costa equalised for chelsea but Aaron Ramsey header was enough to save Arsene wenger and grant arsenal their 13th FA cup title.
